David ADAMS Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of David Robert Adams announces his passing on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Dave was in his 62nd year having been born on August 21, 1960, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Peterborough. Dave will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of his wife of 32 years Alana (Curtis), his three beautiful, strong, loving, and caring daughters Amanda, Christina, Alicia and his son in law Brandon Timperio. Dave is the loving son of Beverly (Pollock) and Jack Adams, devoted brother to Cindy Blodgett and Mike (Katharine). They will hold Dave in their hearts forever. Dave is the beloved son-in-law of Robert Curtis and Mary (McDougall) (predeceased). He is the cherished brother-in-law to Lori, Robert Jr, Marty (Karen), Russ (Carol), Chris (Amanda), Jason (Carol), Brent (Tammy), and Tyler (Derek). He will be immensely missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family, friends and the Camp Couchiching Fab Five. Dave greatly enjoyed his 25+ years as the Executive Director of the Foundation at Five Counties Children's Centre, creating many friendships and memories along the way. Dave was the sailing director at Camp Couchiching in his teen years where he and his family returned many times throughout his life. He was happiest tending to the campfire and singing camp songs late into the night with his family and friends. Dave was also a devoted member within his community, volunteering numerous hours to different organizations. In keeping with Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place. Everyone is invited to attend a public visitation at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Masks/face coverings are mandatory and covid protocols will be enforced. Due to covid restrictions there will be a private, invite only, celebration of life at 4:00 p.m. In memory of Dave Adams, donations to Five Counties Children's Centre, Camp Couchiching or the charity of your choice is greatly appreciated and can be made; along with expressions of condolence, at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com

I was very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I'm not sure that Dave really knew it but he was (and continues to be) a mentor to me. He is the most selfless and positive individual I have ever met, which is the type of person I strive to be every day. So in many ways his legacy lives on.... My condolences to the whole family.

Alana,
I’m so so sorry to hear about Dave.

Last time I spoke with him was at Five Counties when I was there for a meeting.
He was the same happy person I always remember. I have a lot of fun memories of us all playing slopitch years ago.

Hugs and prayers to you and the girls.

I was disheartened to learn of Dave’s passing. This is a very sad loss for many people, especially the Adam’s family who, I am sure, will miss him terribly for a long time to come.
Dave was a fine man and a true inspiration to others. I became acquainted with Dave through Special Olympics, where he donated his time and talents on a number of occasions.
Dave was fun, humorous and a person who you could count on. His commitment was his bond and people enjoyed working and collaborating with him. These past few years, Dave showed the rest of us how to live. His courage and fortitude was a lesson in human dignity.
To his family, take heart in the tributes and nice words that you’ll hear over the weeks to come for they are the only way we can show you that we too will miss Dave and that his contribution to Special Olympics and his community was meaningful and heartfelt.
Dave’s passing will leave a void with many people but his legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and respected him.
Yours respectfully,
Glenn MacDonell

This is truly sad. My first recollection of Dave, was him cradling his tiny infant daughter in the palm of his hand, she was so small. He was smitten and the love he showed for that little baby was heartwarming. I thought to myself, he is going to be a great Dad! Over the years I had the pleasure of working with Dave on a number of events hosted by the City. Reading the tributes just confirms what I knew about Dave - he was always positive, uplifting and very respectful. I am glad I crossed paths with him. Dave's was a life well lived in the service of his family and this community. Alana, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time.

I worked with Dave when I was a kid and this news really sucks. He was definitely one of my favorite Five Counties employees. He was such a sweet dude and I hope that he's resting well now.

Dave was definitely a part of our OI family. He supported my son and family in the 10 years we've known him. Being Ambassadors for 5 Counties was a blessing because that made Dave a member of our family. He will be missed.

Alana and girls - I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Dave as a co-worker at Five Counties. Dave was such a GREAT guy. I always enjoyed our chats while we waited at the photocopier at Five Counties. Lots of laughing. He was so immensely proud of your beautiful girls. His love for his family was always obvious, and so touching. And you will all continue to move forward, forever enveloped in his enduring love. I know that Dave was a man who walked the walk. He was a doer. He never sought accolades. His giving spirit was genuine and pure, and obviously boundless. Dave's time on earth was cut short and I'm so sorry for that. His legacy of love however, will live forever in your hearts and souls, and in the hearts of all the families and children that he so beautifully impacted. Dave didn't ever have to seek the spotlight. He was the light. Light shone through him, and I know that it will continue to shine on every single person who had the privilege of knowing him. You all must be so very proud. God bless.

A wonderful person in every way. He was our neighbour for 18 years. The best. His love for Alana and the girls was front and centre all the time. Always a smile and an encouraging word and many a stale joke was told.

Dave, may you rest in eternal peace.

Alana, Amanda, Christina, Alicia, Suzanne and I pray that you will find strength and comfort.
