VAN DER MELEN, Ronald Joesph It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Joesph Van der Melen on May the 9th 2018 at the Peterborough Regional Hospital at the age of 61. After a brave six year battle with cancer he can now Rest In Peace. Born in Schoten Belgium he emigrated to Canada at age 4 settling in Hamilton Ontario until the family moved to Norwood, Ontario in 1969. It was here that the family run sign business started. Ron attended Norwood High School and went on to graduate from the Durham Graphics Art program. He worked many years in the family business eventually becoming a partner. Known for his talent with a paint brush many examples of his work can still be seen around the County of Peterborough. An avid book and music collector he was one of Moondance Record stores best customers for 44 years. It seems fitting that his life comes to an end at the same time as the store's closure. Beloved son of Luke and Gill Van der Melen. Brother to Michael (Pamela) and predeceased by his bother David. Attentive and loving uncle to Aidan and Alexander. As per Ron's request there will be no funeral service. Ron loved nature and memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy of Canada as an expression of sympathy and may be made by contacting
