Donald Welsh Obituary

Born May 10, 1935, at Toronto General Hospital, passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Center on September 13, 2021. He is lovingly survived and greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann (Kellett) and is the proud father of Paul (Lauren), Bryan (Cathy) and Collin (Julia). A loving grandfather of Niko, Harper, Ben, Luke, Samantha (Jason), Megan (Donny) and great-grandfather to Mariah, Briella, Emerson, Jeremiah, Kash, and Lincoln. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Verda (Short) and William Welsh and sisters Fern, Dorothy, and Ruby and survived by sister Marge.
Don grew up on a farm near Exeter, Ontario and never lost his love of farm life. He began his Bell Canada career at a very young age and later became a Right of Way Manager, retiring after nearly 40 years of service. His love of church choirs kept him involved and connected to the community, including Bethel United Church in rural Omemee where he lived for more than 30 years.
Due mostly to COVID 19 restrictions, a public Celebration of Life will be held at a location and date to be determined. If you wish to contribute in Don's memory, charitable donations for Bethel United Church can be made through CommunityAlternative.ca and are most appreciated.

Dear Betty Ann and Family,

I just found this online and am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I will let Mom (Barbara Ferguson) know about this. She is with me in Victoria now. Please do accept the condolences of everyone in our family. We remember Don well though it has been many years since we saw him. All the best, Heather

Don was my favourite uncle, always full of energy and fun. He loved to horse around with us kids rather than spend too much time talking with the adults. He welcomed me into his home several times as a teenager when I wanted to visit the exciting city of Toronto and go to Yorkville.
He gave me a bicycle that he lovingly refurbished when I started at McMaster U. I was invited to be a junior bridesmaid at his wedding when I was 14 and I was over the moon . As an adult he and Betty Ann always made my husband and I feel very welcome when we dropped in for lunch travelling through the area numerous times over the years. I will miss him greatly.
