Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, December 10, 2022, in his 89th year. Fergus Young of Peterborough, formerly of Ennismore, was the loving husband of Verda (Loyst, d. 2017). Father of Jennifer, Mary Pat, Fergus Jr., Charles, Anne Marie, and Colleen. He will be missed by his surviving siblings; Jean Winn, Madeline Cadigan, Irene (Roy) Grills, John (Helen) Young, and by his sisters-in-law Eleanor Young and Bonnie Young, and by many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by the William, David, and Michael Ingles' families. Predeceased by his parents John F. and Zita (O'Donaghue) Young, and his brothers Joe (Zita), Bobby, Billy (Anne), Pat and brothers-in-law Owen Swift, Steve Winn, and Bob Cadigan. Fergus was a longtime resident and farmer in Ennismore; a member of the Public and Separate School Boards for over 22 years; employed at Outboard Marine for 18 years; member / Board of Director's with Ontario Wheat Board Association and Canada Grains Council; Township of Ennismore Deputy Reeve; and Bowes and Cocks real estate sales for 20 years. He was also a member of the local Optimist Club; and actively involved in coaching minor sports, SNL men's hockey teams, as well as the Ennismore Old-timer's hockey team, of which he held fond memories. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on Tuesday, December 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers at 1:45 p.m. Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial at ST. MARTIN OF TOURS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 513 Ennis Road, Ennismore on Wednesday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Martin's Cemetery. Reception to follow in St. Martin's Parish Hall.
