Iris Hazlewood Obituary
HAZLEWOOD (née Crosby), Iris Angela, in her 76th year, of Kemptville, ON and formerly Peterborough, ON, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Iris was born on October 10, 1946 to the late Laurie Crosby and Matilda (Tilly) Crosby (née McLean) in St. Vincent & The Grenadines. Iris was predeceased by her late brothers Berisford and Kenneth and sister Jenny. Iris is survived by sisters Agnes, Gloria, Marie, Stephanie, and Yvette and brother Winset.
In 1969, Iris married Desmond Hazlewood at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kingstown, St. Vincent. In 1976, Iris immigrated to Mississauga, ON and moved to Peterborough, ON for 32 years and spent her final years in Kemptville, ON. Iris and Desmond went on to have four children, Allana (Bradley), Richard (Mary), Marlon (Lisa), and Melinda (Altan). Iris loved caring for her grandchildren, Brittany, Emily, Luke, Mia, Emir, and a grandson on the way, and great-grandchildren Aurora and Logan. Iris extended her family love to step-granddaughters Erin and Michelle (Dan) and step-grandchildren Miles, Ella, TJ, and Bella and many nieces and nephews.
In 2011, Iris retired as a Pharmacy Technician after 34 years working at Tops Drug Mart, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Big V Drug Stores in Mississauga and Peterborough, ON and spent her time gardening.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice https://www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate.html. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice and the Kemptville Hospital for their loving care of Iris.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Peterborough Free Methodist Church, 450 Lansdowne Street East, Peterborough, ON, Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and reception from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What a wonderful celebration of Iris´ life today. Iris was so incredibly unique and had a special kind of wit, spunk and spirit. We are very sorry for your loss. Iris left her mark and will be missed greatly.
