Janice BALL Obituary

April 24, 1946 - November 30, 2022

On Wednesday, November 30th, Jan passed away peacefully in her home with Bill, her beloved husband of 57 years, by her side.
Loving mother of Grant (Emily) and Lori (Bob) McRae. Proud grandmother of Olivia and Ava Ball, and Alec and Ian McRae. Gran Jan to Susanna Cuda, Juliette and Selwyn Dewdney.
Many will remember her as a friendly and helpful librarian from her time at the Peterborough Public Library and De La Fosse Branch, where she worked for over 25 years. An avid reader, she was always ready with the perfect recommendation.
Jan loved to experiment with recipes and share her tasty creations with family and friends. Skilled at knitting and crafts, Jan always had a new project on the go, whether it was a blanket, socks, or a one-of-a-kind birthday card.
A light in every room, Jan's generous spirit, twinkling eyes, warm laughter, and loving heart will be remembered and cherished by the many friends and family members that love her dearly. Her hugs, which her grandchildren remember as "the best hugs in the world", will be deeply missed.
Donations in Jan's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
A private family service will be held in the spring.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.comstockkaye.com for the family.

When Jan & Bill married they lived at our house in Ottawa. As Mom had gone back to work, it was Jan who took care of Jamie and I. She sure had her hands full when Grant Ball was born shortly after. She did an amazing job with all of us. Once they moved to Peterborough, I would visit for a few weeks each summer. I have such great memories of these summer visits- to Niagara Falls, the Toronto Zoo, Ontario Place etc. When I went to Sir Sandford Fleming College I lived with Jan & Bill in Peterborough. Fond memories of drinking tea in the kitchen. I'll never forget her smile and her support. Beautiful memories. No more pain and suffering, she's now at peace.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Jan´s death. As young families starting out many years ago and living within a block, we have fond memories, particularly Grant and Lori as they attended school, sports activities, parties etc, with our son. A great family, great times. May you know we are thinking of you all in missing your wife, mother, grandmother.

John & Kathy Beavened by our blank looks

December 6, 2022

Bill and Jan became our lovely friends when John and I were first married. They were frequent visitors to our Toronto apartment. During one particular visit, Jan was using her left hand to emphasize conversational points. Finally, she asked if we noticed anything. Frustrated by our blank looks, she proudly announced they were married. We did not see Jan and Bill frequently, but it was always a pleasure to talk with Jan. Her warm, velvety voice and wicked sense of humour made newsy conversations with her a real pleasure. Jan, we will miss you.
