I have fond memories of time spent with John, Hazel and the boys in my childhood. When we hang our wooden angels on the Christmas tree this year, we will honour his life. Or deepest sympathies to Hazel, Rob, Matthew and families.

I worked at the dental office that John and Hazel attend and had many enjoyable chats with John (especially last year when our office was closed for a few months at the beginning of the Covid breakout and John needed some help). My condolences to you Hazel, and your family. John was a true gentleman and and I pray your precious memories help you all through this difficult time.

I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. We worked together at Kawartha Hts. P.S. and he always brightened our days with his enthusiasm, kindness and sense of humor. A scholar and a gentleman. He will be greatly missed. Thinking of you Hazel and the rest of the family.

Mr. Madill was my grade 6 teacher. He left a strong impression on me, and I’m very sorry to hear of his passing.
What I remember most about him is his enthusiasm, for teaching, for us, for the material. I felt like he was often genuinely proud of me.
I remember him telling us he was an inventor, and he had patents pending on things he had made and that was really fascinating to me. That he had so many new ideas, that he was more than just my teacher but someone with a rich inner life - and plans for the future.
I’m sorry to hear of his passing. I hope his family can find some comfort during this time. He was a lovely man and will be remembered fondly.

I taught for many years with JL and enjoyed his company immensely. He was so interesting to be around when he shared news of the various projects that he was working on. That intense focus was a strength that he conveyed to his students. All of them knew that they were in the presence of a man that had a plethora of entertaining and educational cards up his sleeve and that each and every day held the potential for the unveiling of a new and enticing idea. That was John; a man with an ever enquiring mind and an ability to sweep his pupils along as they witnessed and shared his enthusiasm. I valued our friendship and will miss him dearly. Good by my friend.

Hazel, please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. John was a wonderful man. His passions were so wide ranging and fascinating. I loved to hear about his latest adventures in the online world exploring many things I had never heard of. John was exacting of his own work and an example to everyone. He was kind, brave and brightly intelligent. I so enjoyed working with him at the Melting Pot and later at the Village Gallery, and of course our lively lunches with Gail Hancock. Keep well Hazel. I will think of you often.

I am so sad to hear of John’s passing. He was a much respected and loved teacher and colleague at Kawartha Heights public school. I have so many fond memories of John - teaching grade 6 together and laughs and fun times with the staff in the lunch room. You will be missed John. You were a creative, thoughtful, kind and gentle man.
Sincere condolences to John’s love, Hazel, and the family.
