Mary MCCONNACHIE Obituary

No one loved life more than Diane, which is why it is with great sadness in our hearts to announce her sudden yet peaceful passing Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in her 84th year. Beloved Diana to the late Terry Doris. Loving outgoing mother to Lori Anderson (Phil), Terry McConnachie (Michelle), Michael Doris and Kevin Doris (Patti). Much loved Grandma/G-Ma of Lacey Anderson (Jordan), Lindsey Farrow (Clay), Carly Anderson (James), and G.G. to Miles. Lovingly remember by two very special people in her life her sister-in-law Kerry and nephew Jack. Diane will not be forgotten and will be greatly missed by all of her extended family and friends that turned into her chosen family. Diane had an unforgettable presence that will not be forgotten by anyone who ever had the pleasure of being in her company. She was an avid quilter and enthusiastic Peterborough Petes fan. She was known to people of all ages as Gramma. In keeping with Diane's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her Life will be held at her home, on Friday, June 2, from 2-4 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their best broach or pin to honour Diane. Diane was a wonderful friend and mentor to me. She lit up a room when she walked into it, built special connections with everyone she touched. I met Diane in the 9th grade when I volunteered at the Mapleridge recreation center. She took me under her wing and not only taught me so much about life, but gave me a new outlook on it.

My friendship with Diane extended beyond that time, and I still think of her fondly all these years later. I'm so grateful to have met Diane in this lifetime, and I will miss her positive fun-loving existance so dearly.

May she rest in peace

May your hearts be filled with peace and you be comforted by Memories of good times and the love you shared with Diane.
My deepest sympathy on the loss of a wonderful daughter, G-Ma, friend.
Diane and I were friends since the 60's when we worked at Westclox together. We enjoyed a lot of fun times together. She was my Maid of Honor. We travelled together. Many Havelock Jamborees were spent catching up with each other, I visited her in Prterborough when I came up to see my sister. Diane was a wonderful friend and although we didn't see each other often recently, we did chat on the phone. Recently the loss of Terry, and then more recently her loss of Joan Collins out west, did leave a hole in her heart. I know her passing peacefully without any loss of her independence is exactly how she would like to pass. I Mourn her sudden passing. But believe that is exactly how she would have wanted it. NO LONG GOODBYES.

Dan, Doug and Derrick Booth and families.

We met Diane from her dear friend Deb. We did some Havelock Jams and other music fests and had a blast. She was one of a kind, lovely lady, RIP. Our deepest sympathy to the family.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family at this difficult time. I can´t think of a pair of Isaac´s school pants that she didn´t hem, or a costume that she didn´t help with I will also never forget how she became Isaac´s personal chauffeur while I was injured and couldn´t drive. Our family was so fortunate to live beside Diane and Terry and they both continued to be in our lives after we moved. Diane will always hold a special place in my heart and her wonderful presence will be missed

We are saddened and shocked by the passing of our dear friend and quilter. We four were known as the "Star Gazers" and met once a month in each others home for many years. We shared our love of quilting and many funny stories. Diane was one of a kind. She could make you laugh with her jokes and sometimes just shake our heads. Diane, you are the brightest star in the sky now. Love Yvonne (Terry); Alice and Heather. Our condolences to her children, grandchildren and little Miles.
