I met Mike and Diana when they were relatively new to their home on Colonial Crescent and they hired me to to help make it more to their liking. Small jobs led to the big job of building the awning addition on the back of the house where they spent many happy hours. Jesse, the young rambunctious Rottweiler, was brought into the home early in this time and over the years I watched her mature into a wonderfully loyal part of Mike and Diana´s family. Mike was always around while I worked, arguing, offering advice and being stubborn, and mercilessly teasing me when I mistakenly poured concrete onto his tomato plants which he had mistakenly planted in the shade. This teasing went on for...well, for ever. Talks and teasing lead to many meals together with myself and Marina and Diana and Mike. In short, it became a wonderful friendship. Nothing was more important to Mike than working to include Ben, Heidi, and Michael into the happy life that he was building with Diana and her family. His innate combativeness made this work challenging but I think also insured that in time it succeeded in creating a loving and eclectic extended family. I am very grateful that I was for a time included as a small part of this wonderful family and that I got to know Mike as a true friend. I will never forget how Jesse would come to the patio door to greet me every morning when I came to work on the awning. I´m sure she was there to greet him with tail wagging when he reached that further shore in heaven. Rest In Peace my friend.

Mike is my good friend and a good Neighbor but your gone now. So sad. But we have a good trail of memories, coffee break at the backyard, and He used to call me everytime I cut the grass " Are you working?" And I answered " Always no days off and we started laughing. Your firm voice will never forget. My friend, my uncle or my second father may you rest in heavenly peace. My condolences to the whole familly.

Good humour and wit, big bear hugs, gardening, friendly, welcoming, intelligent, travelled, teasing, honest, stubborn. I could go on and on.
I am so sorry for you Diana and the family. Mike's light has gone out now, but he is loved and will be sorely missed.

He was a wonderful human being. He had a positive attitude towards life.
I will always remember his laugh and his jokes. We talked about how he and Diana would take a trip with me to Japan one day. Too bad we did not get the chance to do that.
Rest In Peace Bodo.

Our sincere condolences to Diana and the whole family. Mike encouraged and taught me to sail on my own. He was my mentor and guide to get my pleasure craft license and be a captain on my own boat sailing the world journey of life. Mike is a brave kind and principled good man full of fun and humor. When he and his wife Diana is with me and my husband Glen, there's never been a dull moment, always thowing up jokes, fun, humor and laughters. We will missed this memories with you Mike. He used to call me captain and I call him my senior captain. My Senior Captain is gone to a new world. Rest in heavenly peace my captain. You will be in my prayers.

I only knew Mike for a short time but long enough to know what a worldly, funny, hard working, intelligent, man he was. Unfortunately he has left us before having ,"set sail " to Nova Scotia for a visit. Hope and I will miss and remember his wit, love of animals, hospitality, kindness and friendship, dearly. Diana you are blessed to have had this proud German and loving husband in your life. We all are better people for having known Captain Mike.
