Peter Whittington Obituary

(1979-2021) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the death of Peter Whittington at the age of 41, after a brave 2 1/2 year journey with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Jelena, nee Hinic, devoted father of Tessa and Ryan, much loved son of Ross and Eve, dear brother of Jane (Dave Johnson), and dear son-in-law of Zorka Hinic and Stevan Hinic. Born in Peterborough, Peter attended PCVS, where he was head boy in his final year, and Laurier University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He was employed at Loblaws head office in Brampton. Peter enjoyed cycling, tennis and golf, but his family always came first. He was a wonderful Dad - devoted, imaginative and fun-loving. His integrity, kindness, sense of humour and gentle spirit will never leave us. We were fortunate to have him in our lives. We will miss him. A service for immediate family has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when conditions allow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice, Toronto, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. I am so sorry to hear if the loss of your son, husband, dad and friend to many. Ross and I worked together when Peter was a young boy and I fondly remember Ross lighting up when he spoke of his children. Thinking of all of you at this difficult time and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to your family. I attended PVCS with Pete and I can recall many events, whether in the classroom or at a social gathering, where his incredible sense of humour and bright smile lit up the room. He was always kind, compassionate and gracious to others.

Eve and Ross:
We're so saddened to learn of your loss and we feel your pain.
Through public and high school Peter and (our late son) Jeff were classmates, though they lost touch after that. Hopefully now, they'll connect again.
Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family, to Peter's wife and precious children, and to his friends. May you hold on tight to your treasured memories.

I worked with Peter from 2012 until 2018 on the BPE team at Loblaw and always admired his calm, cool & collected presence, even in the most stressful times. He loved (and continues to love from above) his family, I've never met a more proud husband and father. Peter, we'll miss you!!

I have tons of great memories with Pete. Together with our group for friends we had many adventures over the years. Pete was always the most happily stoic of the group and it was always a joy to see him break out in laughter. He was the happiest with his wife and kids, my most treasured memory of him was when we had a barbecue and our kids were able to play together.

Heartfelt condolences to Jelena, Tessa, Ryan and Peter's family. Peter was always willing to help out Mimico Tennis Club at a moments notice. Hoping that Tessa and Ryan continue to play at the neighbourhood club the game that Peter loved.

The world is now short one extra special person, in absence of Pete. To his nearest and dearest, I am so deeply saddened by your loss. My favourite memories of Pete data back to the late 1990's and early 2000s, and through those I will forever remember the young man who was wholeheartedly dedicated to whatever he decided to do, who treated everyone with equal respect, and had a wonderful sense of humour that you had to pay close attention to catch. Pete, if I could turn back time just long enough to say goodbye, my message would have been simple: Thank you.

I have many fond memories of Pete. Pete never needed to be the center of attention, but he had a strong presence that was always known. He was kind, calm, cool and fiercely proud of his family. I remember the night he and Jelena met - it was clear they had a special connection from the very beginning and it has been exciting to watch them build a beautiful life together. Pete's kids lit him up - and he loved to share stories about adapting to life as a new parent. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in Tessa and Ryan and he will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to get to know him.

I was so sorry to hear about Peter. I knew him in high school and although we didn’t stay in touch I ran into him a few years ago and he was still the same warm, friendly and genuine guy I remembered. I have no doubt he was a great father and husband. I’m so sorry to his family and friends on your loss. He was a truly great guy.

Peter and I worked together on the same Team at Loblaw Head Office. We were partnered up on a few projects where we really got to know each other. Peter had a positive glow about him, his smile, his laughter; especially when he spoke about his family. Peter was true genuine person and I was glad to know him. Our sincerest condolences to his friends and family; may time help you heal.

Pete was such a good friend to me in high school. He was kind, gentle and so very funny. We were co-head students together and that will always be such a special honor to me. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a very dear friend to so many people and this is a great loss for his family and friends. Pete and his family and friends are in my heart, today and always.

While I hadn't seen Pete since university, he was a good friend in high school. We had some good times. The thing I'll remember most about him was his great sense of humour. I'm sure he was a terrific husband and father. This is just devastating news, and my heart goes out to Pete's family.

Pete was really nice guy, and while I haven't seen him for many years, "integrity, kindness, sense of humour and gentle spirit" sums up the friend I knew in high school. I am so sorry for you all.
