Passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C., with his family by his side, on Thursday May 11, 2023. Sherman Edwards of Lakefield in his 88th year. Sherman spent his whole life farming the land on his family farm on the edge of Lakefield. For over 20 years he also drove bus and worked as a custodian for the K.P.D.S.B. He is loved and missed by his wife of 62 years, Carol (nee Bailey). Also missed by his sons Jim (Brenda) of Peterborough, Steve (Kelli) and Kevin (Deanna), both of Lakefield. Dear grandpa of Melissa (Steve), Adam (Stefanie), Marcy, Gavin, Travis, Harley (Cynthia), Brooke, Hayden (Laura), Ashley (Kyle), Tyler (Matt), Bailey (Kameron) and great grandchildren Hannah, Rowyn and Oakland. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by several brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will commence at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Lakefield Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Heritage Room of the Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at 705-652-3355.

Aunt Carol, boys and family our sincere condolences. On behalf of our family I send apologies for not attending Uncle Sherman´s funeral. We were sent a message but it said attachment unavailable. Please know Uncle Sherman always had a kind sparkle in his eyes and a warm smile. All good memories spent with him and his family. So sorry for your loss Brenda, Laurie, Cathy, Frank, Marylou and Norman.

Our Great Uncle Sherman may be gone in body...but his spirit, work ethics and preservation of heritage will never be forgotten.
His smile was made of sunshine...his heart was solid gold...his eyes were as bright as shining stars and his violin music touched our souls!
His body has served its purpose...his soul has done what it was destined to do.
While we must accept the end of an era of our elderly generation...the legacy will always remain within us...the memories of the farm life...the gardens planted...the corn crops in harvest during the season and the heritage we all so dearly love.
As my Music Teacher said in our Wedding Speech over three decades ago...it is those Great Uncles who make us who we are today and their legacy will live on into the future.
Our deepest heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Great Aunt Carol, Jimmy, Steven, Kevin and Family...Love Always...Edward Luffman & Family!!!
