Wayne TEDFORD Obituary

With his ever-loving wife Elsie, of 61 blissful years and his family by his side, Wayne Emerson John Tedford passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough, on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Predeceased by his parents, Russell Tedford and his mother, Dora (Clements) and in-laws, Harold and Edythe Payne. Wayne is survived by his three children, Ken, Randy (Liz) and Rod (Arlene). Proud grandfather of Russell, Cassandra and Billy, and his great grandson, Alex Wayne. He was the Big Brother of Norma (Art) Hamilton, Marg (d. Terry) Bell, Marion (d. Lorne) Hooton, Linda Park, Judy (Les) Bryan, Susan (d. Bill) Coones, David and Wendy (Gary) Dunford. Brother-in-law to Jim (Brenda) Payne, the late Lulu Cooper and the late Paul Douglas. Uncle Wayne will be missed also by his many, many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a true sportsman from early in his childhood, loving the outdoors as a hunter and very sports minded, enjoying many years of playing softball, curling, and hockey. He also enjoyed the company of many friends and extended family, with always a smile, sharing a chuckle or a teasing of/with his siblings and friends.

With a true sense of community, he was a Charter member of the Warsaw and District Lions Club for 49 years and a Coach for many years of youth softball and hockey in the Warsaw and Douro area.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 P.M. at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES-LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street Lakefield. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home, on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. A private family Inurnment will take place at St. Mark's Cemetery, Warsaw at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorial donations to be made to Hospice Peterborough or Five Counties Children Centre by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.

The family wishes to express their many thanks to the Nursing Staff at the PRHC Emergency Department and Palliative Care Units and particularly Dr. Chris Blake. Special thanks to the Angels of Hospice Peterborough, for their loving care and compassion; as well as the family and friends who brightened Wayne's days with their visits.
