Allan BELL Obituary

Passed away on July 14, 2022 surrounded by family, following a brief illness at age 81. Born in 1940 and lifelong resident of Galt, Al was an original member of the Preston Scout House Band (1956-58) as an F horn player and Colour Guard, and also a proud member of the Scout House Alumni Band (2003-13, 2017) as a Swinging Tenor drummer. He made many lifelong friends and wonderful memories from this time in the Band. Al was a hockey referee for the OHL, French League and Independent League for decades and enjoyed Sunday morning hockey with the boys and the Rye Sundays that followed, as well as playing with the Galt Old Timers team. He was proud to be a lifelong Blood Donor, giving blood over 200 times. Past President of the South Waterloo Naval Veterans Association (Navy Club) for 20 years and longtime member, Al enjoyed meeting up with friends to share a lot of stories and laughs at the Club.
Predeceased by his parents, James Hall Bell (1980) and Isabella Bell (nee Marriott) (1945), and his first wife Patricia Piper (nee Ableson) (2010) who was a wonderful mother to their two sons. Survived by his sons Rick (Linda) and Greg (Jyoti), and his beloved wife Betty Ralston Bell. Deeply missed by lifelong friends Bill and Brenda O'Neill and countless others.
At Al's request, a private family ceremony will be held. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the South Waterloo Naval Veterans Association located at 30 Cambridge St. in Cambridge. Please drop by between 1pm and 4pm to share laughter, stories, food, and to raise a glass to Al.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Charity of Your Choice.

Enjoyed working with him many years ago, and at a recent lunch with him and some colleagues. As always his humour was infectious, and his stories always interesting. He will be missed by so many. My Condolences to Al's Family for their loss.

My sincere condolences to Betty, Rick , Greg and your families on the untimely passing of Al. I first met AL back in the 1950's while playing minor hockey. Al has always been an "up front" type of person, never taking a back seat. He will certainly be missed by so many people in the community. RIP my friend.
