AUDREY MAY (HEIBERT) NEE WAGNER BOWMAN obituary

AUDREY BOWMAN Obituary

As the first iris just popped through the robins were singing outside her window at Chatham Hospice she left her earthly home and ascended to her heavenly abode at 8:38 a.m., March 22, 2022.
Audrey May Wagner was born May 8, 1926, to Charles Wagner and Laura Prange, and lived her early year's at their farm in Shantz Station, ON.
She was the second youngest of six children and all her siblings and spouses are deceased: Reta Habel, Veron, Roy, Billy and Charles!
She attended Shantz Station Public Schools and Trinity Lutheran Church as a youngster. She was always involved in the community volunteering in many ways. She was the #1 fan of youth sports that her children were involved in. She participated in rural life including helping to run the farm, drive school bus, teach 4-H, and was involved with the home and school, Women's Institute, and many other activities including her church St Pauls Lutheran, Cambridge for many years. She was also a most excellent crafter and seamstress.
Audrey's first husband was Willard Clare Bowman, married June 10, 1944 when she was 18 year old. They had six children; Shirley Mitchell-Grumme (Henning) (Lou Mitchell- deceased), Glen Bowman, wife Georgina (both deceased), Beth Polai (Robert), Kathy Holmes (Ron), Douglas Bowman, (Deb), Tim Bowman (deceased) Karen.
Willard died when mom was 47 years old. AS a young widow she met and married Wallace Boniface and together they spent almost 30 years together. Travelling and especially enjoying winters in Florida for almost two decades. She welcomed Wally's two children and their families into the fold and enjoyed a close relationship with them. Jim Boniface (deceased) (Mary Pat), Judy Jagger, (Doug).
After Wally's passing, widowed again, Audrey and her brother-in-law Henry Heibert, met to console each other mourning the loss of their second spouses within days of each other.
Needing and enjoying each others company they decided to marry, although they were considered "seasoned" at 83 years for Audrey, and 84 years for Henry they enjoyed a comfortable and loving relationship together for almost one decade. Their combined children of course were related, and we referred to our parents as Uncle Dad and Auntie Mom!
Her nephews/step sons are; Kenneth (deceased) (Bobby-Joe), Rick (Jean), Michael (Sharon) and Mark.
Our Mother leaves behind many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and (Steps). She was affectionally known and loved by them all as "GG". Many nieces, nephews and extended family, especially Ivan and Alice, Jim and AnneMarie Bowman, will certainly miss her presence amongst us.
Audrey enjoyed living at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge for many years but due to Covid restrictions found the loneliness too much and moved to Ridgetown to reside with her son Doug and daughter-in-law Deb. It was a wonderful experience for her and the family are so happy for the super care they gave to her.
She had a great Christmas but early this year things began to change, she lost her eye sight and other health issues turned her world upside down forcing her to spend the last month in hospital.
Mom was a member of Breslau Mennonite Church. She was especially grateful to have shared special times with Luella Martin, Alice Gascho and Alice Kinzie through her church affliation.
Mom's visitation and service will take place at Memory Gardens, Breslau, visitation Friday, March 25th, 4-8 p.m. and again Saturday, March 26th, from 1-2 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service and a private family committal service will happen on Monday. Pastor Eleanor Epp-Stobbie, Breslau Mennonite Church officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to Fairview Mennonite Home, Breslau Mennonite Church, Chatham Kent Health Alliance Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Masks are optional for guests while in attendance at the funeral home.
