Passed away peacefully at the Freeport Site of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday November 29, 2022, at the age of 91. Loving wife and best friend of Lawrence "Nick" Nickason, who together shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Cherished mother of Cathy Hallman (the late Jim), Lorna Watson (Ken), Carl (Liz) and Paul. Proud grandmother of Shelly (John), Christopher (Sarah), Maggie (Mark), Jaclyn (Natalie), Elizabeth (Charlie), Lisa (Josh) and Jack and great-grandmother of Bryce, Luke, Alex, James, Kale, Meadow, Finnley, Gabby, Jacob, and Spencer. Helen will also be sadly missed by her sister Peg James and sisters-in-law Lillian (Bob) Emberson and Shirley (David) Emberson. Predeceased by her siblings Doreen (Joe) Felice, Marg (Bob) Bedford, Fred (Bev) Emberson, John (Bernice) Emberson, Bob Emberson and David Emberson as well as in laws Barbara (Art) Johnson and Carolyn (Gary) Ringel. Helen spent 68 years living in Cambridge (Galt), where she enjoyed a 25-year nursing career at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Helen was an avid bridge player and storyteller, a talented knitter, she also enjoyed crocheting and smocking leaving many sweaters for family and friends to treasure. Helen and Nick traveled the world. Both were also active members of Trinity Anglican Church, where they will be missed by their many friends and church family. At Helen's request, cremation has taken place. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge, where family and friends will be received for memorial visitation on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Rd., Cambridge, on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. The family has requested that at the visitation and memorial service, everyone wear blue as this was Helen's favourite colour. A private family interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to Trinity Anglican Church or a
charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
