BURKHARDT, Charlotte Marie (nee MacDonald) With great sadness the family of Charlotte Burkhardt announces that Charlotte left us peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her close family, and in the arms of her childhood lover at 9:28 p.m. on December 30, 2016 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Breast Cancer. Beloved wife of Bruce of 41 years. Much loved mother of Jake Burkhardt (Kim), and Erica Moore (Steven). #1 Grammy of Wraeanna and Wrennae Burkhardt and Charlotte and Oscar Moore. Charlotte was born August 31, 1957 to Archie and Marie MacDonald the lone girl with 7 brothers. She was always an independent spirit and her insatiable zest for living took her and her family to many fascinating destinations. She also had a lifelong commitment to education completing her Health Care Administration Certification program at the University of Saskatchewan, her Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) degree from Waterloo University and her masters of Business Administration through Wilfrid Laurier University. Charlotte worked in Health Care Services for 44 years with Freeport Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital and the Homewood Health Centre being the main beneficiaries of her unique style of management. She will be remembered as a dedicated and effective employee and a mentor to many others. She was also a cherished member of many local and international health care organizations, providing her unique style and knowledge. Charlotte's family would like to thank the compassionate staff at the Grand River Cancer Centre and Innisfree House Hospice for their tremendous ability to make a bad situation tolerable. It is not overlooked, the fact that they never, not even for a minute, stole hope. Again, these people have been, and are, fantastic. Family and friends will be received for a memorial visitation at
Robert Ruggle Funeral Home , 617 King St. N., Waterloo on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service of remembrance celebrating Charlotte's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation has taken place.
