David LOWATER Obituary

On Monday, January 25, 2021, I (Diane (Nee Thorn), his wife) lost the love of my life, my best friend, and husband extraordinaire. We enjoyed over 36 years of marriage, our wedding anniversary is September 8, 1984. My life was truly blessed. David passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital with John and Diane at his side. Born in England on August 30th, 1938, David Brooke Lowater was the loving father of John (Christine) and Michael (Mary). He was predeceased by his brother Graham and his parents Alexander and Gladys (nee Brook) Lowater, and Jennifer (nee Beadle) his first wife. Also predeceased by in-laws William and Helen Thorn. He is remembered by his elder brother Peter, his wife Jenny and their children, Gina and Simon and their families. Sister-in-law Phyllis Lowater of Toronto and brother-in-law Russell Thorn of Barrie; Rebecca Grace (Mike) Stepdaughter of Michael. The true loves of his life were his three granddaughters. Brooke, Mikaela (Jason), and Alexis (Dan). In his eyes they could do no wrong and he was fiercely proud of their individual accomplishments in life. David immigrated to Canada in April 1959 and within 1 week he was hired by Electrohome. His career started in engineering, moved into sales and marketing, and he retired as President of The Electronics Group after 40 years of service at the end of 1999. He travelled to over eighty countries during his lifetime on business and pleasures. Upon retirement, we set off on an adventure which would take us to New Zealand during the winter months. We spent 20 years doing so and made many memories and close friendships. In retirement David was a volunteer with Community Support Connections, formerly RAISE. As an avid golfer, he was a long time member of Galt Country Club. He was a Past Master of Twin City Masonic Lodge, a member of Moore Sovereign Consistory 32 degree (Scottish Rite Mason) and Mocha Temple (Shriners) and the Waterloo County Shrine Club. The Lowater Family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff of The Grand River Hospital ICU Department for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Montreal, Quebec would be appreciated by the family. A private family service will be held on Monday, February 1st at 3:00 p.m. Relatives and friends may view David's service thru www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming. A celebration of David's life will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Visit www.henrywalser.com for David's memorial.

David was a Nice Guy, and well-liked by all who worked at Electrohome during the time of President of the Electronics division. He respected my contribution in the Design Engineering department and so in return I had great respect for him as well. Very sad to hear about his passing. My deepest sympaty to all his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
