Diane McKELVIE Obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Diane McKelvie of Kitchener. Diane passed away at Headwaters Health Care Centre (Orangeville, Ontario) on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the young age of 64 years. Diane is now reunited with her loving parents Victoria (Vicky) and David Hinds. She passed in the loving arms of her family and is survived by her loving and devoted soul mate Ron, married 44 years. Loving mom to Michael (Ashley). Cherished grandmother (Glamma) to Carter. Survived by brother Allan (Dianne) and sister-in-law to Shawn. Dear aunt to Corey, Patrick, Shea (Bailey), and niece to John (Julie). Diane will also be sorely missed by her long-time sister-like friend Cathy Kaufman, dear friends Sherry and Scott Marshall as well as extended family members Roy and Maria Hubbuch. Diane was born in Cambridge (Preston) and moved to the "big city" of Kitchener after marrying Ron. Diane worked in insurance prior to joining the University of Waterloo. Here she kept advancing and became a Career Advisor, in the Department of Co-Operative Education, as well as acting as the Harassment Officer for the University. During her 42-year career at the University (retired in 2020), she advised many students on career choices, and to many, she became their second mom. Diane was a volunteer at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the past and more recently, was a Lead Mediator for Community Justice Initiatives. She was an integral part of Ashley and Mike's dance businesses - SHOCK Dance Challenge and Watts School of Dance. Family time was always Diane's favourite, from huge Christmas dinners that she masterly prepared, to spending time with Mike, Ashley, and her special Carter "Bear". She also enjoyed having intimate dinners with Ron and friends. Diane had a very special and loving relationship with her daughter-in-law Ashley and cherished every moment they spent together. Diane can be described as a beautiful, intelligent, kind, loving, caring, and nurturing woman. The perfect wife, mother, "Glamma", sister and friend, that will be sadly missed by all. A private internment will be held at Parklawn Cemetery in Cambridge. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Diane, you are a beautiful person. Thank you so much for advising me during co-op. Your guidance and encouragement was much appreciated and gave me genuine hope for a bright future career. I'm looking forward to seeing you and catching up with you on the other side. May the Lord bless and keep you in His love and in His peace, and see you safely to His side. <3

To each family member, my sincere and deepest condolences. I know that this must be a difficult time. You're in my prayers, as is Diane. God bless each of you.

I completed two co-op terms under Diane's leadership in the 90s. We met for lunch a few times over the years. Most recently, she reached out after her retirement to provide an update and ask about my own well-being during the early days of the pandemic. Her kindness and big heart will be missed. Thoughts to Diane's family.

My condolences to all of Diane's loved ones. Diane holds a special place in my heart. When I was a student, she interviewed me and gave me a co-op job offer - the start of my career within Co-op. We worked together for many years; her smiles and giggles were the best! I hope the special memories of her provide you with comfort.

My condolences to Ron and family! In my 24 years of working with Diane at Waterloo, I know how proud she was of her family. Her most recent role as "Glamma" was one she certainly enjoyed and felt blessed about. I wish you all comfort in your memories of Diane.
