Enid Conning Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Enid Conning. Mom passed away at Hilltop Manor, her home for the past 7 years, on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 in her 86th year. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side, but not until she had put up an amazing and inspiring fight. She is survived by her children Jill (John) Bell and their children Naomi (Steve), Brian, Cameron (Robyn), Ian and great grandsons Teddy and Tate, all of Calgary; Janet (Don) Mosher and their children John (Leah) all of Bright, Dennis (Brittany) of Camrose, Alberta, Bruce and Nancy Conning and their children Darby (Siobhain), Sullivan and Seamus of Brantford. Enid was predeceased by her adoring husband of 63 years Ted in 2017 and her loving grandson Jake in 2019. Born the 4th child in a family of 9 children, she is survived by her siblings Harold, Philip, Janet and Sheila. She was predeceased by sisters Muriel, Margaret, Patricia and Olive. Born in Liverpool, England, December 3rd, 1935, Liverpool remained close to her heart until her last day although she spent the majority of her life in Canada. Mom and Dad emigrated to Canada in 1957 and quickly made Canada their home, making every effort to weave newfound experiences and traditions into their new life. All who knew Mom would agree that she was the most gracious host and took great pleasure in planning gatherings and celebrations for family and friends. Her skill in the kitchen in both cooking and baking brought joy to many. Mom would always be the first to open her home to visitors and her willingness to be helpful was only exceeded by the joy it brought her. Mom was a lover of music and her home was often filled with the sound of her singing while doing her housework. She had a beautiful voice we shall never forget. Like her mother and sisters, she loved knitting and made many beautiful sweaters for family, especially for her grandchildren. Mom didn't only work hard at home, she also worked for many years at the Right House in Galt and Wooley Shoes, where she made many lifelong friends. Mom said very often in her later years " I've had a lovely life-the best you could imagine", and that captures our feelings for her, a lovely Mom, the best you could imagine. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Manor for their love and care for Mom, your care for her was genuine and she spoke of all of you with the highest regard. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Heart and Stroke Society. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will be held at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge, Ontario on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 12 noon until 1:45p.m., with a private family service following. Enid was such a lovely woman, inside and out - her gentle soul blessed so many people and I was privileged to share many wonderful visits with her. May all those who miss her find comfort in knowing that she looked forward to reuniting with her beloved Ted. May you feel God's comfort and peace during this time of sadness.
