Eudoxia Giza Obituary

Peacefully passed away after a brief illness on March 23, 2022 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 94. Being widowed early in life, she is now reunited with her husband, Vasilios Gizas (1967). Eudoxia is survived by her two beloved children, John (Courtney) Gizas and Larry (Ilda Nunes) Gizas. Grandchildren, Amy Patricia, Kyle William (Nicole), Calvin James (Lindsay), Kinley Elizabeth and Brianna Jessica and great-grandchildren Blake, Quentin, Aria and Naomi will miss their Yiayia dearly. She is survived by her beloved sister, Helen Toufexis, and predeceased by her siblings, Dimitris and George Chrissafi. She will be remembered by her many extended family members and friends in Canada, Australia and back home in Greece. Eudoxia was born in Sklithro, Florina, Greece and lived through trying times of war and loss. In 1952, she married Vasilios and they were blessed with two children shortly after. A few years after Vasilios died, Eudoxia relocated to Canada where she enjoyed a rewarding life with her children and supportive extended family. She blessed her family greatly as a wonderful mother and yiayia, loving deeply and unconditionally. Her family will always remember her love for family visits and a cup of Greek coffee, cookies and chocolates everyday at 4:30 p.m. Eudoxia's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Grand River Hospital 8th floor and ICU for their compassion and grace during her stay and appreciation for the care and support provided by all extended family during her brief illness. Eudoxia's family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Trisagion Prayers at 7:45 p.m., on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral service will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church on March 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery. Those who are unable to attend the service on Monday are invited to join the family via livestream at www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation or Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
