Frank YOSHY Obituary
YOSHY, Frank Jiro 1923 - 2019 Frank Yoshy passed away as he lived his life, quietly and stoically. He was born in Vancouver more than 96 years ago and as a Japanese Canadian of his generation, overcame many obstacles to achieve a successful life. Fran was dedicated to his family. His way was not boisterous bear hugs but the small gestures: daily trips to the park after work, flooding a skating rink for the neighbourhood kids on cold winter nights, peeling grapefruit for the children's afterschool snacks. Family dogs also benefitted from other types of Frank's snacks. He was a craftsman at tile setting, a reader of poetry and Shakespeare, and a natural on the baseball diamond and golf course. Frank was resilient and resourceful, and a man of many talents and few words. He left us countless great 'Pops' stories in our memory banks. Predeceased by his wife, Fudge, Frank is survived by his three children and their spouses, Ryan (Judy), Becky (Bob Gibson) and Cathy (David Leasa). He is remembered by six grandchildren- Fraser and Sachiko Gibson, and Mariko, Zak, Kody and Kiyoko Yoshy and 11 great-grandchildren. The family extends a warm thank you to Ruth Auber, Dr. Milligan and the Wright Neighbourhood team at University Gates for their kindness and care.
