Gerda Elisabeth Bretz

Gerda was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home due to complications from diabetes on December 28, 2022 at the age of 76. Gerda came to live in Kitchener, Ontario moving to Canada from Germany as a young adult. Wife of Ottmar Bretz for 57 years. She enjoyed an active life and worked into her 75th year. Caring and helping others was something that brought her great happiness. Over the years she worked as a caregiver for both seniors and children as well as many years in the retail food business at several local deli's. She loved getting together with her friends over coffee, and one of her great passions was knitting where she loved to create gifts for her family. She is survived by her husband Ottmar whom she lovingly cared for over the past 6 years after his stroke, her three children Janet Bretz Foster (Tom), Gary Bretz (Annette) and Jamie Bretz (Amanda). Her grandchildren brought her the most joy and laughs - Demi and Hailey Bretz, Mackenzie Bretz and Cole Foster. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467. A private family gathering was held followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery.
