She was adored by her grandchildren Sarah Todd (Calgary), Laura Todd (Milan, Italy), Emma Todd (K-W), and Dean Todd (K-W). Gwen also has two great-grandchildren, Iris and Jude Tufts (Calgary).
Gwen was born in 1925 in Chesley, Ontario. She grew up during the Great Depression and the Second World War. Gwen's siblings are Harry Lustig (deceased), George Lustig, Marie Sanderson (deceased), and Joan Stanford. Gwen loved figure skating and learned the art at her father's hockey arena in Chesley. Gwen attended the University of Toronto and earned a degree in Geography, as did her sisters Marie and Joan. Gwen met Alan Todd (Galt) at U of T and they were married in 1948. They started a family in Hespeler in 1949. The Todd's moved to Kitchener in 1956. Gwen worked as a librarian at the University of Waterloo from 1966 to 1996, which she enjoyed very much.
Gwen loved flower gardens, reading Agatha Christie novels, and attending Shakespeare plays in Stratford. Gwen was an avid follower of Canadian politics; she was a loyal Liberal and greatly admired Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chretien.
Gwen owned a cottage on the shore of Lake Huron near Kintail, Ontario, where she would spend her summers. Her children and grandchildren were frequent visitors there.
Many thanks to Beechwood Manor (Waterloo) and Lanark Village (Kitchener) for taking such good care of Gwen in her final year.
