Helen HAYGARTH

Helen passed away peacefully, in her 83rd year, at Grand River Hospital after a short illness, October 4, 2022. Daughter of Alexander and Harriet Templeton, Glasgow Scotland. Cherished wife of John. Loving mother to Mark and Paul, and daughter-in-law Stephanie (Hankins). Much loved grandmother to Kaitlin and Cameron. Sister to Archie (deceased), Jim, John, Joseph (deceased), Etta (deceased), Alec (deceased), Betty, Don (deceased) and Flora (deceased) of Glasgow. Dearly missed by extended family and friends in Scotland, England, and here in Canada. Born into a large family in Glasgow, Scotland in 1939, Helen had an adventurous soul and moved to New York City shortly after her 18th birthday, where she met and later married her loving husband of 62 years, John. After living in England for many years they moved to Canada in 1974 with their two sons. She quickly became an avid sports supporter, and could be seen at many a soccer field or hockey arena supporting her sons. This is where she met many of her lifelong friends, who were very dear to her heart. Helen had a quick wit and a sly sense of humour, and was always the life of the party, which endeared her to many. She was an avid reader and also had a special love for football (soccer), especially Glasgow Rangers FC, and Liverpool FC. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire Healthcare team at Grand River Hospital. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later date. In memory of Helen, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation.
