Ignatius YO Obituary

YO, Ignatius Han Tiong Surrounded by his loving family, Ignatius passed away peacefully at the age of 75, on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Grand River Hospital, after a brief illness. Of everything he'd seen and done, he was most proud of his family. He adored his wife and best friend Margaret (n? Irvine) with whom he shared 44 wonderful years. He dearly loved his children Sean and Anna, and welcomed their partners Jennifer and Charles Lehmann as his own children. He was a loving Engkong to his granddaughters, Gwendolyn, Zoe, and Lillian. One of eight children, Ignatius is survived by Yo Han Giap, Yo Siok Iem, Yo Han Hauw, and Yo Siok Ay and predeceased by Yo Siok Oen, Yo Han Kiam and Yo Han An. He always had a special place in his heart for the family dog Daisy, an irreplaceable friend and companion. Born in Pekalongan, Indonesia, he had an amazing life, first as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in Australia and then as part of Agriculture Canada. He moved across the world to Moncton, New Brunswick where he met, for the first time, Margaret and the Canadian Winter. He much preferred Margaret. After retirement, Ignatius continued to be a consultant and pursued his love of collecting fountain pens and watches. Friends are invited to call at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street South, on Sunday, November 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning, November 13 at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's RC Church, 56 Duke St., Kitchener. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Westmount Celebration Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, both of whom the family greatly thanks for the excellent care and support provided to Ignatius in his final days with us.
