Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge at the age of 78. Jim was born November 9, 1943, in Hamilton, Ontario to a loving family of pranksters. Husband of the late Margaret (May 2022). Fabulous father of Sherri Linka (Dan) and Lisa Gordanier (JD Jarus). Amazing grandad "gramps" of Adam Linka (Nicole), Courtney Linka (Jeff) of B.C., Sam and Max Jarus of California.
Sweet brother of Allan Gordanier (Pat), Karen McArthur (Patrick), Murray Gordanier (Bev) and the late Lois Roung. Will be greatly missed by the Brown family. Very funny uncle to many nieces and nephews. Perhaps at the top of the list should be his right-hand man, Rex, his dog and trusty four-legged companion who never left his side. Jim was passionate about his family, loved his grandkids and enjoyed spending time and listening to everyone's life updates. Jim loved touring around with Margaret here and there, day trips with the dog or just spending time in the yard. He was an amazing listener, hugger, joke teller, and all-around great human. Jim loved playing golf; no day was too cold to tee off. He loved watching sports, loved Tom Brady and the Patriots.
So many people will miss this guy deeply. We will miss your laughter, the eye roll, the gentle guy you were to so many of us. We hope you're playing a round, or chatting someone's ear off. We loved you deeply dad. So many people we have to thank, those who have helped our family through many difficult times. Our dad had great support from his siblings, friends, neighbours, and so many wonderful caregivers along the way. Thank you to his wonderful support group and friends he made through Parkwood Institute in London, Ontario. Thank you to some wonderful folks at Freeport Hospital, as we tried to navigate care. Thank you to Dr. Parker and so many amazing health care professionals at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge. You not only took care of our dad, but you made him feel safe and loved. You are all amazing people! Thank you. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity you are passionate about would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home). Visit
