James WOODS Obituary

1955 - 2021 James Garfield Woods, of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of Kitchener, Ontario, passed away peacefully after losing his battle with cancer on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his companion Pamela, and his parents Jim and Elsie (Berry) Woods. He leaves behind his siblings Tim (Kim), Cathy (Kevin), Herb (Janice), Kevin (Shirley), Paul (Cheryl), Chris (Sue), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a proud and devoted Dad to Tonya (Brent) and Dion, a loving Grampie to Brooklyn, Avery, and Bronson, and friend to former spouse Christine, and he will be forever missed. James (Gar) graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with a BA in 1977. Upon graduation he followed his passion, and he received his Motor Vehicle Mechanic Class A License. He was known for his longtime career at Mister Transmission in Kitchener. He had to be the funny guy in the room and always had a listening ear. He much loved gardening, cooking, and eating while not building cars. James (Gar) loved animals and children and both gravitated to him. He impacted many with his kind heart by making you feel as though you were number one. He felt a calling to street ministry and often took it upon himself to feed and help those in need. He loved passionately and unconditionally. James (Gar) will rest softly with the angels and watch over all those he cared about. The family will celebrate his life privately. Anyone wishing to express sympathy may consider making a donation to their favourite charity, Cancer Society, or Diabetes Canada, in his memory.

Gar was my brother-in-law and uncle to my girls. He loved them and they adored him. He was always there for my family through thick and thin. He was kind and would do anything for anyone. Although we have not been close since he moved to Alberta, he will be missed. Sending my condolences to his family and friends during this sad and difficult time.
