Jane Elizabeth Thompson (nee Becker) passed away at the age of 64 on June 13, 2022, following a battle with cancer. Jane is pre-deceased by her husband Grant Thompson (2021) with whom she had two beloved children, Alexander, and Dana. She is also pre-deceased by her parents Helen and Wally Becker and sister Beverly (Bowman). She will be forever cherished by sisters Frances (Becker) and Mary Lynn (Becker) along with brother-in-law Frank Bowman and his wife Nancy and sister-in-law Sue Nelson. She will be missed by nieces and nephews Christopher, Katie, Carla, Kirk, Emilee, and Allie. She was a long-time resident of Oakville and enjoyed several wonderful years of teaching at Sunningdale Public School. She taught students of many ages and enjoyed years as the school's librarian, sharing her love of reading with students and staff. Jane grew up in New Hamburg, Ontario and graduated from Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School in Baden. She received undergraduate degrees from the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo. She earned her teacher's diploma from York University. An avid reader and a passionate gardener with an unparalleled green thumb, Jane enjoyed exploring the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay with friends and family on foot or by kayak. Her Christmas dinners and cookie-baking marathons were second to none. Jane was a loyal and caring friend, mother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and colleague, generous with her time and compassion. A service will be held on Sunday, June 26 at 3:00 pm at Oakview Funeral Home in Oakville for friends and family. Masks will be required to attend. A livestream of the service will be available on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane's name can be made to Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve. www.gbbr.ca. My sympathy goes out to Jane´s close family at this sad time.
She was one of our many cousins who took part in our yearly Becker Reunions her Dad organized for so many years.

Mrs. Thompson is forever my favorite librarian-she was one of the first people who encouraged me to read whatever I pleased, beyond curriculum-prescribed novels.
Her welcoming smile upon entering the library, her letting me get away with one too many overdue books, and the special way she pronounces the word "book" have stuck with me even after leaving Sunningdale, and will carry on with me as I continue to read.
Thank you for everything, Mrs. Thompson, you are so dearly loved. Wishing my best to all her loved ones.
