Jean Newbery passed at home on December 21, 2021. Born in Liverpool England in 1925, Jean was an adventurous young woman who enjoyed hiking and cycling, eventually translating her love of the outdoors into her passion for painting. She emigrated by boat to Canada in 1960, where she met Bob, her husband of 52 years, eventually settling in Kitchener for 35 years before moving to Toronto in 2013.
She worked as a bookkeeper for many years until retirement when she focussed on her painting, predominantly of landscapes and florals.
She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother by her children Andrew (Richard), Bill (Angela) and Liz, her grandchildren Madison, Callum and Evan. She is also survived by beloved sister Elsie and nieces and nephews. Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, her siblings Norma, Ken, Millie, Gordon and Pauline and niece Jenny.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Amica at Bayview and at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
