JoAnn HALL Obituary

Surrounded by her family, JoAnn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Grand River Hospital at the age of 75. Loving mother of the late John Hall (2002), Christine (David Houghton) and Jana Hall (Jon Mitchell). Cherished grandmother of Macleod, Tyler, Chase, Henry, Grace and Isla. Dear sister of George (Judy) Craig and Susan (Bill) Brick. Aunt of Becky, Allison, Sarah, Chelsea, Natasha, Andrew. Predeceased by her parents, the Honorable Mr. Justice MacLeod Craig and Frances (nee Linscott) and her niece Jessica. JoAnn was born in Walkerton, Ontario and grew up in Owen Sound. She studied at the University of Western Ontario and received her teaching degree. She was a dedicated teacher for the Waterloo School Board for over 30 years and received her Masters in Education from the University of Toronto. She had many varied interests, particularly in culture, music and art. She was a long-standing member of the KW Philharmonic Choir and Gilbert and Sullivan. She was a faithful lifetime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and sung with the choir. JoAnn always had a smile on her face and a kind word for all - looking at the brighter things in life. She was a dedicated mom and cherished her role as 'Granny Jo'. She treasured her children and grandchildren. A devoted academic, who loved spending time in the tranquility of her cottage, observing birds, enjoying nature and listening to classical music. She always loved a good conversation. She had boundless energy, curiosity and a real sense of adventure - she lived life on her terms. All who loved her will not forget her sweet nature, generosity of spirit, tenacity, courage, kindness and strength. Her loving soul and beautiful spirit will be missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her - she will forever live in our hearts.
