Passed away on July 6, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Mary (née Wright). Loving father of Colin Holmes, Noreen Chan (née Holmes), Laurie Trombley, and Tracy Holmes. Cherished grand-father of Keegan and Hilda Chan, and Renata, Fiona and Alistair Holmes. Dear brother of Eric Holmes. Predeceased by his father Alexander Holmes, mother Mary, step-mother Mary Holmes and first wife Hilda Holmes. Jack was born in Northern Ireland and graduated from the Belfast College of Technology (Queens University), and subsequently received an MSc from the U. Manchester in Polymer and Fibre Science. He was a licentiate of the Textile Institute throughout his working career. In 1972, Jack and Hilda moved their family to Canada, where after a short stay in Burlington, they settled permanently in Elora. After the passing of Hilda in 1989, Jack married Mary Wright and began his second-great family adventure in the K-W area. In 2001, Jack retired from Strudex Fibres as VP of Manufacturing and Marketing. Needing to stay busy, he incorporated JC Holmes International and enjoyed consulting in association with C-BASS Ltd as a specialist in the SR&ED program. Jack was active in the community including volunteering at the Grand River Pony Club, Boy Scouts, Elora Badminton Club and various churches. He enjoyed fishing, working on his Little British Car, watching his cats, gardening, following the success of his grandkids and enjoying life with his wife, Mary. Jack touched many lives in his time and is sorely missed by his family. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was writing his memoirs that we look forward to reading in the days ahead. Private Cremation has taken place. Jack's family will announce the date and time of interment (Elora Public Cemetery) at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the
Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
