VEENEMA, John John Veenema went home to his Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 89 years of age. Husband to Janet (predeceased 2009). Father to A. John (Paula), Jean (Curtis), Margaret (Jacob), Al (Brenda), Elisabeth (Glen); Opa to Alannah (Steve), Michael, Emily (Al), Kathryn, Christian, Krista, Pieter, Ashley (Jason), Nicole (Brad), Janelle, Stephen, Lilian; Great-grandfather to Ella, Oscar, Bentley, Violet; and Uncle John to many new Canadians. Survived by one sister and many nieces and nephews living in the Netherlands. John bore witness to his faith throughout his life. Born in Friesland in 1930, he moved to Canada in 1951. As an immigrant himself, he dedicated his life to sponsoring and helping people from several nations establish lives in Canada. Dad we will miss your astonishment and delight in nature, your love of a good joke and your passion for helping others. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home , 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, from 7- 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 94 Elgin St. S. Cambridge, with visitation to be held at the church 50 minutes prior to service. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery.
