Kaitlyn Roth Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend; Kaitlyn Lydia Roth on April 28, 2022. She died four days shy of her 21st birthday to the disease of mental illness.
Kaitlyn is the cherished daughter of Fiona (nee Ruby) and Michael Roth; forever in the hearts of her siblings, Molly and Mikey. Deeply loved by grandparents, Isobel Ruby and Michael and Melodie Roth and aunts and uncles Julie (TJ) and Brent Hergott, Stephanie and Chad Holleman, Alan and Shah Ruby and Gillian and Scott Hamp. Lovingly remembered by her cousins Karley, Tyler, Luke, Brooke; Jack, Matthew; Rebecca, Jonathan, Timothy; Caspian and Boston. Kaitlyn was predeceased by her grandfather, Keith Ruby. She is also remembered by many wonderful, caring friends.
Kaitlyn attended Bridgeport P.S., Margaret Avenue P.S. and Bluevale Collegiate and was in her 3rd year at the University of Waterloo. She aspired to attend graduate school to pursue a career working with children who have special needs and worked as a Direct Support Worker at KW Habilitation.
Kaitlyn was always a go-getter who aspired to do the best she could in everything she did. From Student Council, to choirs, band, basketball, rugby and the swim team, these varied activities reflected her interest in leadership, music and sport. A high school highlight for Kaitlyn was participating in the Canadian Student Leadership Conference in Waterloo as well as the Provincial Student Leadership Conference in Niagara Falls.
Kaitlyn also had so many positive experiences at the WMB church youth group. Friday night youth group was a positive place for Kaitlyn to hang out with her friends and grow her faith. With WMB she participated in two youth mission trips; Montreal and Portugal. Kaitlyn's faith in God was very important to her and she appreciated her pastors' support throughout her challenging journey.
Kaitlyn was a thoughtful, funny, creative, loving and confident young woman who gave the best hugs. At the family cottage, she was our amazing badminton, bean bag toss and poker tournament organizer, regatta canoe champion, as well as our chief puzzle builder and cinnamon bun sampler. She also loved her annual family trip to Florida visiting her Oma and Opa.
Family was so important to Kaitlyn and she embraced any opportunity to spend time with her extended families. Kaitlyn cherished the annual Thanksgiving Day horseshoe tournament, "Roth Raider" Christmases, and the memories of her epic "Girls Trip" to Ireland with her mom, Grandma, Aunt Stephie, Molly, Karley and Brooke to visit her Irish relatives.
We are grateful to Shannon Dindyal and the team at Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassion and incredible care of Kaitlyn as she struggled with her mental health. We also wish to thank Dr. Zorzitto for her advocacy and efforts to assist in her recovery. We also want to thank the Halton Police Services for their compassion and care for Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn, our beautiful brown-eyed girl with the million dollar smile, we love you always.
Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The family will hold a service to honour Kaitlyn's life which will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Waterloo Mennonite Brethren Church, 245 Lexington Rd., Waterloo at 3 p.m. Masks are optional. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Kaitlyn was such a wonderful soul to be around, and I am deeply saddened by her passing. I had attended BPS, Margaret avenue, and Bluevale with her, and she was always so involved and passionate about everything she did. I only recently found out about her passing, but I will always remember the joy and happiness that Kaitlyn brought to those that were fortunate enough to know her.

Deepest sympathy to the entire family. Looking at her beautiful picture, I saw a strong resemblance to her grandfather, Keith.
