(Sergeant, O.P.P. Detachment Commander RET.)
It is with heavy hearts the Sudds family announces that Ken hung up his skates with his family by his side on October 1, 2022 in his 87th year. Ken was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Noreen of 65 years. He was the loving father to his four children Kim Moir (Mike Bell), Terry Sudds (Jackie), Kelly Smith (Rusty) and Greg Sudds (Christine). Treasured grandfather of Tyler, Haley, Matthew, Katie, Michael, Tiffany, Brandon, Kyle, Spencer, Emily and their respective spouses. He was a proud Papa to 11 great-grandchildren, and will be missed by many life-long friends. Ken is survived by his sister Pauline (Fred) Graham and nephews Craig and Kenny Graham. Ken joined the O.P.P. in 1957, serving numerous detachments throughout the province, and finished his 30 year career as a Sergeant/Detachment Commander in Strathroy, ON. He received the Police Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada in 1993 and was a Life member of the O.P.P. Veterans' Association (London). He may rest knowing that he made a difference in many lives. Ken's favourite pastime was hockey, "All I want to do is have fun and work up a little sweat", he was quoted, as one of the founding executive members of KW Old-Timers Hockey Club in 1978. He shared this love of hockey with family and friends and at age 78 he retired his skates. May he keep his stick on the ice. No one was as quick with wit and words as Ken. He will always be remembered by the many laughs, practical jokes, stories, and fun he left with all that knew him. Ken will be dearly and forever missed. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Ken's family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region or Anselma House c/o Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
