Marianne Keyko Obituary

Marianne Keyko passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends, at the age of 71 years old. Best friend and wife of Larry for 40 years. Loving mother to Angela McCall (Gary), Christine Lockett-Chaves (Joe), Lorraine Keyko Ross (Mel) and Chad. Grandmother to 10 wonderful and loving grandchildren. Her siblings, Cheryl Dolan (Woody), Cam Koebel (Trudy), Jennifer Hancock, Judy Monotiuk (Paul) and Hugh Koebel (Julie) and sister-in-law Delores, will miss her dearly. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Hugo and Anne Koebel and brother Larry.

After working 36 years with Equitable Life Insurance in Waterloo, she retired to beautiful Barry's Bay in 2005. Marianne enjoyed golfing, walking, listening to audio books, kayaking, volunteering at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, as well as exercising and enjoying the dinners at the Opeongo Seniors Centre. She leaves behind many good friends and neighbours she has met over the years.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Dawes and the palliative nursing support. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no memorial service and cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Madawaska Valley Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Barry's Bay is truly an amazing town.

My sympathy to the family on the passing of a friend whose memory I cherish.
I started work at Equitable in 1977 and was given the desk next to Marianne. I was drawn to her outgoing nature and love of life immediately. Soon afterwards, we became really close friends and I was delighted to be a friend of the most popular person in the company. Everyone truly loved her.
One of our favourite adventures was to "shuffle off to Buffalo" to go shopping. We wore the same size, so we each took three items (the limit) into the change rooms, but got to try on six! How clever we were...
Somehow I knew she had moved to Barry's Bay and I thought if I ever got there, I would look her up. Unfortunately that did not happen.
I'm sure you all have wonderful memories as well. How lucky we all are to have had her in our lives.
