June 14, 1925 - June 12, 2022
Marie passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Amica Retirement Home, Dundas Ontario, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Lewis (May 2003). Also predeceased by her brother Albert Lavis, brother-in-law Edward Stewart, as well as sister-in-law and brother-in-law Helen and Cliff Scheffel. Marie is survived by her sister Victoria Stewart and sister-in-law Georgie Lavis. Loving Aunt of Ken Scheffel, Ron (Joanne) Scheffel, Susan Boughton, Sandra (Kim) Wanklin and their families. Marie earned her Masters in Art from McMaster University and her MA from the University of London England. She spent her career at York University working in the Rare Books library. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Amica Dundas for their loving care and compassion. I am sorry to read of Marie's death. Her husband and my mother were first cousins. Lewis, Marie and I shared a passion for family history and they would have me down to their lovely house in Niagra-on-the-Lake to go over old photos and Scheffel history. A lovely couple, always welcoming and kind. My deepest sympathy to her family.
