Mark Forgeron Obituary

Born October 30, 1956 in St. Catharines; passed surrounded by love on June 13, 2022. Mark leaves behind his wife, his person, Lynn (nee McLaughlin), children Bailey (Rachael) and Shaw (Katie). He is survived by his father, Valma, his mother, Lucille, brothers, Ken (Sharon), Stephen (Connie) and sister, Nicole (Chris), sister-in-law, Debra McLaughlin, nieces, Maggie Forgeron and Claire Forgeron, and nephews, Luc Forgeron (Laura), Zachary Gorman, Mitchell Gorman (Myranda), Alec Forgeron, Andrew Forgeron and Stephen Sigouin. Great-uncle of Gigi Forgeron, Ellie Forgeron, Miller Gorman and Meadow-Mae Gorman.

Blessed with many gifts, Mark was a musician, a gifted singer, a master of wood craft, a brilliant teacher, a star chef, a florist with flair and our handyman. He cared for the earth, loved the great outdoors, a good book and was always up to date on the news. He was a gentle soul, who could lift your spirits with a smile and a kind word. He was a courageous stroke survivor, the strongest man we've known. He was unfailingly there for his family who were the center of his universe and a willing hand to his friends when needed. His many kindnesses will never be forgotten by those who were touched by his caring and he will be missed by all who knew him. We are forever grateful and will always celebrate how much better we are for having known him. Blessed by his love, today and for always.

Funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 169 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines. Interment following at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to Freeport Hospital or Innisfree House.

Mark and I shared the same first name in the Woodworking Department at Conestoga College. With two Mark's we often got people mixed up and then enjoyed a laugh at that. He was a good man and a pleasure to teach with. We laughed together, sang together, talk about everything and just enjoyed being with one another. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Lynn, Bailey, and Shaw:
Very sorry to hear of your loss. I had the good fortune of working with a wonderful group of teachers in the Woodworking centre, and mark was one of the best. Always admired by students and colleagues. Went out of his way with extra efforts to improve student success, and promote woodworking programs. Mark worked hard in support of Skills Canada competitions, supporting our students in the competition, including those who won national and international medals. He will be greatly missed.

Saddened to hear of Mark's passing. Mark and I grew up on the same street and both attended West Park High School. We were also in woodworking class together, where Mark was clearly the star student and showed a level of skill and proficiency far beyond the rest of us. When we were in grade 13, Mark and I joined the high school musical, Mark playing the lead (Corndoggie) and I the secondary comic role. Mark shined in the show - such ease on stage and a glorious voice. I also remember how beautifully he played the guitar. Though Mark and I never ran with the same crowd, I fondly remember him as a gentle and talented soul. Over the years I have often thought of Mark and will continue to do so. My condolences to the family.
