Matthew Gingrich Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle.
Matt is the much-loved son of Lynne Gingrich (predeceased 2009) and Kenneth Gingrich (Barb Parker). Deeply loved brother of Sarah and Lyle Guard, Kit and Robert Fraser, Jennifer Gingrich, Josh Gingrich. Proud uncle to Alexandra, Lauren and Jack. Remembered fondly by his step-brother Bill Leavitt. We are comforted in knowing that Matt has been reunited with his cherished Mother, brother Jeff and grandparents.
Matt was passionate about his family, swimming and all animals. He swam at the national level with the Region of Waterloo Swim Club for many years, with a butterfly stroke that was beautiful to watch. He had recently begun competing again at the Masters level, medalling multiple times from his first return to the pool. Matthew was also an avid runner, completing multiple half marathons and Olympic distance triathlons. He adored his nieces and nephew and spent hours talking about stuffies, princesses and John Deere tractors, with the endless patience of a devoted uncle. He connected with all animals and particularly identified with animals in rescue, often taking dogs out for a few hours through The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society, as well as dog walking for his many friends.
Matthew attended the University of Waterloo and was passionate about finance. He was proud to work as a Financial Advisor at RBC Canada.
Capturing Matthew in a few words is impossible. Matthew was charismatic, charming, warm, remarkably sensitive to others, fiercely loyal, so loving, with a ready smile and laugh. He had an irrepressible flair for life and people were always drawn to him. It is devastating that it was his beautiful and pure heart that failed him in the end.
The family will hold a service, and celebration of Matthew's life in the spring. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Matt at www.matthewgingrich.com.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society may be arranged through www.matthewgingrich.com or through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445, and would be appreciated by the family.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Matt's passing. My elderly mother was a client of Matt's at RBC. Not only did he assist her with investments, he made sure he took care of her when she did her everyday banking. Matt also ran to my mother's house to deliver documents so she didn't have to go into the branch...such caring and kindness. We will never forget it. Our heartfelt condolences go to the whole Gingrich family.

I am so sorry for your loss. We met Matt, when we first moved to the neighbourhood, because he would always stop by, pet our Hudson, and tell me that one day he would like to have a Newfoundland. I always enjoyed talking with him and know the world is missing a kind heart.
