Passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022, at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo, ON. Dear mother of Martin (Bettina), Elaine (Edward), Ralph (Lee), Jennifer, and Alan (Naoko). Loving grandmother of Devon (Alise), Anna, Emily, Lena, Maya, and Marika. Will be greatly missed by her siblings Bob Kroon and Kees van Maris. Predeceased by parents Henk and Henrica Kroon and siblings Elly Snater and Hanny Hartery. Spoiler of children, nibbler of Gouda, generous with a hug, a laugh, and a coffee with speculaas. A wartime childhood in occupied Holland couldn't diminish Mia's love of others or her inner radiance. Mia/Oma/Mom leaves behind a galaxy of admirers who long basked in her charm, warm smile, and perplexing Dutch proverbs. She will be greatly missed. Mia's family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 12 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel with a reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
