Nelda Yantzie Kropf passed away peacefully on Jan 6th 2022 at the age of 95 at Nithview Long Term Care New Hamburg.
Born Feb 25 1926 near New Hamburg to the belated Michael R and Nancy (Jutzi) Yantzi. Dreams of becoming a nurse led her to Rockway Collegiate Secondary School at age 26, followed by a nursing diploma from Victoria School of Nursing in London in 1958.
She returned to Western University, London, to achieve a teaching certificate and spent a 26-year career teaching nursing with Conestoga College School of Nursing in Stratford.
Employment included the surgical unit at K-W Hospital and pediatrics at Stratford General and a short voluntary service term in St Anthony, Newfoundland.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Religion and Culture with Waterloo Lutheran (now Wilfrid Laurier) University in 1972.
Nelda served 2 terms on the board of directors of Tricounty Mennonite Homes, where she later resided for the last 9 months of her life.
Nelda married Elmer Kropf at Hillcrest Mennonite Church on Sep 24 1982 and they resided in Tavistock. Nelda was an active member of Tavistock Mennonite Church and led in many church roles of Bible studies, WMSC quilting projects and administration. During their retirement they enjoyed travelling, gardening, family events, volunteering at Ten Thousand Villages and Nelda created many quilts.
Nelda was predeceased by her husband Elmer Kropf on July 25 1994 and by sisters Marion (Wilmer) Bender, Katie (Lorne) Bender and brother Lloyd Yantzi.
Lovingly remembered by step sons Ron (Mary) Kropf of Tavistock, Ken (Dianne) Kropf of Tavistock, Bruce (Charlene) Kropf of Stratford, Barry (Mary) Kropf of RR 1 Shakespeare, and by 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, by sister-in-law Pearl Yantzi, nieces and nephews Richard Bender, Rosanna Olsson, Mary Ellen (Richard) Tompkins, Jim (Beatrice) Bender, Rob (Jackie) Bender, Pat Bender and LeEtta Yantzi.

Funeral service will be held at Tavistock Mennonite Church on Sunday January 9 2022 at 3 p.m. with pastor Jim Brown officiating, family interment following at East Zorra cemetery 16th line. (Covid restrictions apply, please wear masks and social distance)
