Murray Salverda of Ayr passed away at the K-W Site of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the age of 56 years, surrounded by family.
Cherished husband of Annemarie (nee Van Woerkom); beloved father of Michael (Ava) and Allison (Timmy). Dear brother of Janet DeVos (Case); Sue Duiker (Archie); Tony Salverda (Lori); Marilyn Morton (John); Diane DeGroot (the late Steve). Sadly missed by his many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family, both here in Canada and The Netherlands. Predeceased by his parents Rein Salverda and Mary De Vries (nee VanManen).
Murray's passions in life centred around his family. Some of his favourite things were travelling, camping and spending time at home. Murray was a life-long resident of Ayr. He was active in the community, including Knox Church Ayr and Kirkwood. Murray was always quick to lend a helping hand whenever necessary.
Murray, affectionately known as "Uncle Murray" to many, worked at Ayr Welding for over 30 years. During that time, he wore many hats from welder/fabricator to project manager/estimator. Murray was quite creative, always making new metal artwork for his home or working on improvements for his yard or house. Murray was a dedicated and hard worker in every aspect of his life.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may call at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr Chapel, 183 Northumberland Street, Ayr on Tuesday, June 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, June 8th, 11 a.m. at Knox United Church, 91 Northumberland Street, Ayr.
