My wife Heather and I are very saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend Roger Downer whom we came to know well when he was living in London, Ontario while pursuing his PhD at the University of Windsor. We were so happy to spend time with both Roger and Jean on our trip to Ireland in 2018. To Jean and your family, please accept our most sincere condolences.

Doctor Downer was my favourite teacher at Waterloo, and surprisingly I learned a lot from him. He liked his rugger and hockey players. May he rest in peace.
