Ron supervised the Co-op Teaching Math Programme at Waterloo. In my last year, my wife and I were having trouble finding jobs where we could work in the same area. Ron directed me to Mayfield SS in Brampton and I can't think of a better school for a young teacher to start out. My wife got a job in a neighbouring school and our professional lives started there. Thanks, Ron.
Condlolences to the family.

Rob joins me in sending deepest condolences on the death of your wonderful dad. He was an inspiration to me in the pursuit of higher education. He played trumpet at our wedding. Purcell´s Trumpet Voluntary as I recall. Years later, our son Vu won the math contest at Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes secondary. He did a workshop at UW and eventually took a double Honours program at Waterloo and Laurier. I felt so confident in suggesting he chose these schools instead of U of T. I knew their worth because I k ew Ron had been instrumental in founding them. Thankful for Ron´s influence on all of our lives.

My condolences to the Dunkley family. I have fond memories of working with Ron, marking mathematics contests. He was always available to give advice and listen to other's opinions. A truly talented man dedicated to his profession. Carl Stewart

Over the past few days I have spent a lot time thinking about Ron. When it is all said and done, there has never been a better friend to teachers and mathematics in this province. Whether it was the 'Mathematics Bulletin', the math contests, the June seminars, the developing of text material or whatever else, he always led the way. Or as something as onerous as marking math contests, he always brought teachers together and encouraged them to talk about math problems and to learn from each other. This was so valuable to young teachers and it provided a really strong basis for classroom teaching. It made things better but it also involved a lot of thought and hard work. And that
was one thing you learned about Dunk when you spent a lot of time around him-he worked harder than anyone and always took the time to think carefully about issues. You could always count on him to provide leadership and to have an opinion.
When I worked at Waterloo, my wife and I spent a lot of time with Ron and Dorothy and we knew that they loved each other and their family deeply. In the end, what better way to define one's life. He provided the same for us all. There are very few like Dunk that come this way.

Susan, I am so sorry to hear of your and your families loss. From what I remember, he was a wonderful and interesting man who loved his family very much. May he rest in peace with your mother and may his memory live on forever in your hearts. With deepest sorrow.

Lloyd and Phyllis (mom & dad) always enjoyed the company of many of the math group from Waterloo. Whether it was bridge, supper out, music, theatre, cryptic crosswords or working on (or creating) math problems, they enjoyed their companionship so much, they moved to Kitchener in dad's retirement. Family trips including Grand Island, NY mathematics retreats made memorable connections with the Dunkley and mathematics families. Ron and Dorothy were always smiling faces at the centre of the activities. Our family's sincere condolences to the Dunkley clan. The Auckland Family

I have fond memories of having Ron as one of my professors in second year at U of W in 1972.
He had a TV brought into the classroom so we could all watch the famous Canada vs Russia hockey game. He was a great prof. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
