Ronald Repke Obituary

1959 - 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Walter Repke. on January 13, 2022 at Lanark Long Term Care at the age of 62. Ron's wife Debbie was by his side.
Beloved husband of Debbie Repke (nee Crow) for over 32 years, and loving father to Eric Repke and Julia Repke. Ron will be greatly missed by his parents Walter and Freda Repke (nee Freiheit), his sisters Carol Huber (Dennis) and Rita Ciulei (Liviu), as well as all his extended family and countless friends.
Ron was born on November 19, 1959. He grew up in Kitchener, attending Forest Hill Public School and then Forest Heights Collegiate Institute, graduating in 1978.
At 19, Ron moved to Toronto to study Film Studies at Ryerson Polytechnic University. Upon graduation in 1982, he and his class had produced more films than any previous year. He is fondly remembered as the 'producer with the briefcase in one hand and a smoke in the other'. Film was to be a lifelong passion for Ron. Ron was an energetic spirit who loved life. Always an entrepreneur, he would stop at any lemonade stand to show his support, often providing words of wisdom. Ron was a mentor to many, regardless of age! This talented and creative individual cared deeply about his family and friends and would always lend a helping hand whenever needed. 'Think Positive' was Ron's favorite expression. He was a man who believed in living, laughing and 'carpe diem'!
Ron's entire family wishes to thank the staff at Lanark Heights Long Term Care. They took excellent care of Ron since February 2016, when he was no longer able to live at home due to the complications of having MS.
Cremation has taken place. A quiet family service will be held at Memory Gardens. In the Spring, once Covid-19 has subsided and the weather is warmer a Celebration of Life will be planned, so we can all get together, toast Ron and share stories!
To honour Ron, donations can be made to Ryerson University Film Studies. Helping future filmmakers and storytellers would mean so much to him. Memorial donations can by visiting the Memory Gardens Website in Memory of Ron and select donations.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau 519-904-0400. www.memorycemetery.ca

Dear Debbie, Eric and Julia,
(Frieda, Walter, Rita, and Family)

I am so sorry for your loss. Though I only knew him these last few years, he was one of the kindest and funniest men I´ve ever met. He had a quiet, witty sense of humour that always had me laughing. I enjoyed helping him with your family FaceTime calls, and being there for him in the pandemic when you couldn´t be there. Though it was sometimes a challenge to get him to smile, when I´d say something funny enough and get him to smile it would make my day. He had the most contagious smile.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

After Ron passed, my medium friend wrote to me and said..."He is so free! He is actually running and jumping because he couldn't for so long!" and that is how I will always picture Ron! As free and as joyful as he was in life before MS. To my sister Deb and my nephew Eric and niece Julia and to Ron's parents and family, my deepest condolences. His spirit shines on brightly!

My condolences to Debby and family. I had the pleasure of meeting both Ron and Debby years ago and the opportunity to work with them on a few projects. Very nice people and I am saddened by the news.
