Ronald SHOEMAKER Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ronald at the Village at University Gates on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 93. Survived by his sister June Nolan, nieces Kathy Matte (Rick) and Laura Shoemaker (Tom) and nephews Gerard Shoemaker (Michelle), John Shoemaker (Stacey), Kim Nolan (Susan) and Larry Litzgus (Jane). Born on March 14, 1928 in Kitchener, Ronald was one of 11 children. He was born into a hardworking and devout catholic family whose parents, John and Laura, owned and operated Shoemaker's Groceteria on Victoria Street. Ronald spent his career as a dedicated sheet metal worker who loved to spend weekends with his sister Helen and friend Mag at his cottage in Southampton. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's R.C. Church. Ronald's candor and enduring faith will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, (519)749-8467.A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's R.C. Church. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the professional, patient and caring staff at Chartwell Bankside and University Gates Long Term Care. Ronald was blessed to spend much time, car-rides and many ice cream cones with his loving niece Kathy during this past year. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Vincent de Paul - St. Mary's Parish or Catholic Community Foundation of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
