Willi STERZIK Obituary

Willi went to be with his saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 84 years old. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine (née Streletz), sons Daniel (Brenda) and Jonathan (Angela), granddaughters Siera and Brianne, family in Germany (Erich Mally, Margit Uhlik, Irene Werner, Lydia Nowak, Esther Blaesing, and families) and The Czech Republic, and many friends. Willi was born in Germany but lived in Czechoslovakia from 1946-1968. He learned a skilled trade (Millwright Electrician), completed military service (Czech), and was active in the church as a Sunday school teacher and as an Elder. Willi immigrated to Canada with his wife and sons in 1982. Although learning a third language was difficult, he was able to support his family by working in his trade until retirement in 2000. He was active in the German Gospel Church for many years, and more recently attended the Salvation Army Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Village of Winston Park and St. Mary's and Grand River (Freeport) hospitals for their excellent care of Willi. Willi's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery. Guests who wish to attend must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling. Masks are required. Those who are unable to attend are invited to view the funeral via www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gospel Church of Waterloo, The Salvation Army Kitchener Community Church & Family Care Centre or Grand River Hospital Foundation-Freeport Health Centre would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
