January 4, 1945 - March 19, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Sippel at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents Carl Sippel and Callista Sippel (nee McAlpine) and his brother Richard (1994). Beloved husband of 39 years to Susan Sippel (nee Bower) and loving father to Laura (Robert) and Julia (Matthew). Cherished brother to Brian (Theresa) of Winnipeg. Will had a love for adventure. He met many people who made a lasting impression on his life, and he always had interesting stories to reminisce about with old friends and his family. He later settled in Kitchener where he met his wife and had two amazing daughters. Will loved his daughters immensely and was incredibly proud of them. He taught them to be independent, fearless, and strong. He was a strong advocate that nothing in life happens without hard work, and this resonated in everything he did. Will was a respected and trusted Millwright spending most of his career as an active part of the Millwrights Local 1916. He worked for many years at Lackie Brothers and later the On-Site Group. His love of his work took him across the Country and connected him with many amazing lifelong friends. Will was loved by many and was a true friend to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. No matter how long between visits, people always tracked Will down and dropped in for a few drinks and an often-heated political debate. The last few years had been hard on Will with various hospital admissions. However, with determination, stubbornness, humour, and sarcasm he was able to overcome most of what life presented to him. We would like to express special thanks to the Emergency room physicians at GRH and SMGH who treated Will and the ICU unit at St. Mary's who kept him comfortable in his last days. A celebration of life will be held at Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr, Chapel, 183 Northumberland St., in Ayr on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Visitation will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., and a sharing of memories will be held at 3 p.m. Those wishing to donate in memory of Will Sippel are asked to consider SickKids.
