Willow Cocks Obituary

On March 3rd, 2021, Willow passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital with both of her beloved daughters holding her hand. She was 74. Loving wife to her husband of 30 years, the late Howard Cocks. Cherished mother, to her girls, Laurie Minor and Kelly Cocks. Devoted and adoring grandmother to Luke (Kristina) and Alyssa Pelletier, whom she loved deeply. Pre-deceased by her precious "Cody-Bear", Cody Shull (Cocks), in 2015. Willow is survived by her sisters Sharon Bruce (Mike) and Mary Ellen Walker (Doug), as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Austin and Pearl Minor, and her brother Wilfred, all of Fonthill. Willow was also pre-deceased by her second love Ken O'Neil. We would like to thank the staff of the ICU at St. Mary's Hospital, and Dr. Anas Ben Musa, for their kind and caring compassion. We would also like to extend our thanks to those at The Court at Laurelwood for all that they have done for Willow. She loved her time there and quickly developed some very close friendships which were very dear to her. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held by her family at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Willows name to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society by calling the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467.

I was saddened to hear of Willow's passing. When I moved to Laurelwood, Willow was my guardian Angel. She offered her unconditional friendship. When I was sick she helped me, doing my laundry and checking I on me. She was my table mate and we shared many moments together. When I moved out of Laurelwood, Willow and I would share phone calls together, she came to my 'birthday' party post transplant, and vowed to forever remain friends, even after I moved to Muskoka. Willow always thought of others first and went out of her way to help others with care and compassion. Rest in Peace my dear friend, you will always be in my heart.

I was fortunate to have met Willow in the summer of 2015 when she and Kelly and I all attended a beautiful and so needed gathering for parents who had lost a child - Willow and Kelly had lost their dear Cody and I, my dear Ryan. Kelly and I had already met and become great friends. I was so happy to have met Willow and spent time with her. She was such a sweet lady. She will be so missed by her family and friends. Rest In Peace Willow. I’m sure you gave Cody the biggest hug when you got there!

Dearest Willow, it was a pleasure to be your hairstylist for some years. We had some laughs, and some good talks. I'm so happy we had one last talk as well. May you rest in peace and watch over your girls. Give Cody a big hug for me. Love Chiler Zammit
