Johann King Obituary
Johann Marguerite King passed away peacefully February 26th, 2016 at Mountain View Manor in Ladner, B.C. Johann was born on June 4th, 1937 in Port Alberni, B.C., to Ernest and Irma Shorter, the second child of their four children. At the age of 19, she married William Harvey King of Prince George, B.C. With her husband, she raised her three children in many parts of Alberta and B.C. while Harvey pursued his career. Johann loved being a stay-at-home mum while her children were growing up. She was a talented crafter, including knitting, quilting, macrame, crocheting, as well as sewing. After her children left home she worked in the retail sector as well as exploring her love of gardening and nature. An especial love was reserved for the many cats in her life and her summer holidays at her parents' home and her in-laws' cabin at Cluculz Lake. She was also an involved member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi for many years.
Johann is survived by her husband of 58 years, as well as her three children: Harvey (Tracy Kuhtz), Lynn (Tammy Severin) and Paul (Ingrid); and her five grandchildren Hannah Lewis, Harrison King, Natasha King, Morgan King and Byron King. She is predeceased by her brother Thomas Shorter, and survived by her sisters Kathleen Pinckney and Susan Henderson. A celebration of life is planned for the end of May/early June. Thanks to the doctors and staff of Mountain View Manor for many years of excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Delta Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
