Alisa ERNST Obituary

After a short battle with cancer, wife, daughter, mother, teacher, and friend Alisa Ernst (Cousins) passed away on January 11, 2022. Alisa passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her husband and two daughters.

Alisa Ernst was born to Alan Cousins and the late Elizabeth Cousins (Lewis) on August 12th, 1966, in Hamilton, Ontario. Throughout her elementary, secondary, and post secondary education, Alisa remained top of her class, graduating from Western University with both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education. After completing her education, Alisa found her passion in teaching and became a talented and adored Kindergarten teacher, teaching at multiple schools and districts for over 20 years. As an educator, Alisa poured endless love into her work. On multiple occasions she was recognized by past students, who shared the positive impact she had on them decades into their lives.

Alisa was married to David Ernst in 1998 and they lived together in Roseville for over 20 years. Alisa and David shared many adventures, travelling, camping, and cruising whenever they had the chance. Their marriage was one of constant laughter and strong friendship. Alisa is survived by her two daughters, Emily and Erin, who remember their mother as both a force of kindness, care, and support, and a best friend. Alisa is remembered as being full of life and spirit, her vibrant laughter lighting up any room. Although she has passed, you can still find her in all things beautiful in this world.

At this time, Alisa's Family has yet to make funeral and memorial arrangements due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. However, the family plans to make arrangements for a funeral service or celebration of life event when it is safe to do so. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

David, Emily and Erin, I am sending you my deepest condolences on Alisa's passing. My heart aches for each of you. I worked with Alisa at Ayr P.S. while supporting a very unique student several years ago. It was evident from the moment we first met that she was a passionate and dedicated educator and as time went on it was obvious how much she loved her vocation and the JK and SK children in her charge.
But even more evident was the deep love and pride she had for all of you, her Family, who she spoke of daily with such joy and excitement. You were always in her heart.
Alisa's smile and bubbly personality will never be forgotten.
I have thought of her so often with great fondness in the past 6 years of my retirement and our brief work collaboration was one of my most rewarding in my 22 years with the WRDSB.
I pray that God will surround you with strength and comfort in the days to come. Alisa will be missed by all of the us and her memory will be a blessing.
